Relevancy Tuning
What is Search Relevance?
The quality of search results directly depends on how effective a user’s search queries are. The better or more explicit the search query is, the better the search engine is in distinguishing relevant documents from non-relevant ones. The process of sorting the document results, so that those documents which are most likely to be relevant to the user's search query are shown at the top, is called relevancy ranking. Ideally, search engine understands the user intent behind the keywords used in the search query and it returns relevant results to the user.
How do I change or tweak my Search Relevance?
Relevance is a subjective term and depends on the user's interpretation of the document for it to be relevant or not. Since the term relevance is subjective, the search engine cannot always produce the perfect set of documents for the user's search query. This is why we've provided the ability to define your own relevance with the ability to tune the system dynamically. In Relevancy Tuning, we have provided a way for each user to have multiple Relevancy Models, where each contains a unique set of relevancy rules. These models can be tested out to see which set of rules works best for the user, thus enabling the user to finely tune the relevancy of the system. The diagram below shows the Relevancy drawer with different Relevancy Models.
